Live Online Lecture Series
PART ONE: September 20 - December 21, 2021
The Dimon Institute is launching its first ever virtual Basic Principles of Movement Awareness course this fall. It will be open to all interested students, teachers, and trainees.
Dr. Ted Dimon will present a series of 46 live online lectures, 60 minutes each, from September 20, 2021 through December 21, 2021. The live class will meet Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 12:00-1:00PM ET. Recordings will be available to all students for until February 1, 2022.

The working of the human organism in action is central to all we do, yet the study of this subject is still largely omitted as an educational discipline. Methods for stretching, strengthening and releasing muscles seek to improve this machine's efficiency, but none of these disciplines recognize how the neuromuscular skeletal system functions as a coordinated whole. Nor do they appreciate that the system operates at a largely habitual or unconscious level, so they do not address how to raise this machinery's function to a conscious level. This course will look at how the body works as a unified psychomotor system and how to gain greater awareness and control of this system in daily life.
Based on 35 years of studying and teaching this subject, Ted Dimon (EdD) provides a comprehensive course on the human body and how it works in action. Dr. Dimon will adapt the curriculum in response to issues and questions that emerge as we explore the following as a community of learners:

-
The anatomical relationships that support the establishment of muscle length as an organizing principle in the skillful coordination of action.
-
The study of a kinesthetic thinking skill that develops conscious awareness of the body-self in action.
-
The observation of how kinesthetic thinking can reorganize the neuromuscular-skeletal system to activate self-optimizing functions.
-
The coordination of a dynamically lengthened neuromuscular-skeletal state as the basis for voluntary action.
